Lake Ohau Lodge Employment

Lake Ohau Lodge is an iconic 72 room NZ high country lodge on the shores of Lake Ohau in the Southern Alps, the headwaters of the Waitaki Valley.  The Lodge is unique in its style and we pride ourselves on providing genuine and friendly Kiwi hospitality along with amazing food.  We live in an extraordinary natural landscape with a large lake, mountains, river valleys and walking trails on our back door step so if you love the outdoors, one of these positions could be for you. We are a medium to large family run business catering for tours and functions over summer and skiers and snowboarders over winter. We are the Ohau family and we treat every guest as if they were a guest in our own home.  We choose positive and happy people who will work as a team and who will go that extra distance, offering that personal touch to make our guests feel welcome. 

We have accommodation on site and provide 3 meals a day for $200/week or there are some houses locally that can be rented and different arrangements entered in to. 

SUMMER 2021 

HEAD CHEF - We are a family business, looking for a talented and enthusiastic Head Chef to take over the running of the kitchen and to continue the reputation that we have gained over 31 years. You will be involved in menu planning, overseeing the smooth operation of the kitchen including the food control plan, managing food costs and meeting budgets, ordering and maintaining stock levels and rotation, maintaining our high standard of presentation and excellent food.

You will have excellent communication skills, be friendly and approachable, able to work calmly in a busy kitchen and to inspire and motivate others while working alongside your team. 

SOUS CHEF - We require a skilled chef to work alongside the team.  You would be the chef in charge on the Head Chef's days off.

RECEPTIONIST - We are seeking a friendly and competent person with hotel reservations experience to fill a permanent receptionist position.  The position is to start late February.  We are looking for someone with excellent computer skills and experience in hotel systems with booking, invoicing and POS systems.  Microsoft Office especially word processing, spreadsheet and outlook.  You are required to manage the booking system, answer phones, reply to emails, take bookings, prepare bills and reconcile takings.  You are the "face of Ohau" so someone welcoming, polite, happy and efficient is important.

HOUSEKEEPER - Do you take pride in your work and have a high standard of cleaning?  We are looking for a Housekeeper for the summer season and if you wanted to stay on for the winter season we would be open to this too.

BARISTA/WAITER - You would work in the restaurant, making and serving guests coffees at breakfast and posting this to the guest's account.  If you were rostered on for lunch or dinner you would wait on guest tables, taking orders and serving their meal, clear and wash dishes and be responsible for the cleaning of the restaurant.

Ohau Snow Fields Employment

Ohau Snow Fields is the original NZ high country boutique snow and ski field situated in the Southern Alps south of Mt Cook. Ohau has a double chair lift, a platter and a snow mat.

WINTER 2021:
We will be taking applications for the 2021 Winter season from the 1st of March 2021. Please note that the ski season is opening on the 3rd of July and preseason training will be starting the week beginning 28th of June. Enquiries please email mike@ohau.co.nz.
